Substance use disorder

People with this disorder are intensely focused on consuming certain substances, such as alcohol, tobacco or illicit drugs.

Consumption affects the individual's ability to function in daily life.

The person continues using the substance even knowing that it is causing problems in the family, work or school environment.

Treatment is diverse, generally including pharmacological, psychotherapeutic and behavioral treatment.
